If you have decided to take a yoga class at 4th Avenue Yoga you are probably wondering what to expect in your first class. Don't be intimidated.

Every class will have no more than 6 students. The environment at 4th Avenue Yoga is a spa-like serene setting. Park on the street, walk down the driveway, open and walk through the gate, and enter the studio.

If this is your first class at 4th Avenue Yoga arrive 10 to 15 minutes early. It is important to be on time for class. This will give you enough time to complete the registration and most importantly meet your teacher to discuss any questions or concerns you might have. Be sure to let the teacher know of any restrictions, limitations, or medical issues that may affect your practice. The teacher will offer modifications and any variations where appropriate. Most yoga postures can be adjusted to your needs.

It is recommended that you bring your own yoga mat.

Wear comfortable clothing that is not restricting your movement. Yoga is practiced barefoot so please take your shoes off once you enter the yoga space and place them under the bench. Switch off your mobile phone. Be mindful of the students around you. The yoga class is designed to bring focus to your breath and silence.

Honor your body, do not be led by your ego. Never push beyond your natural threshold or force yourself into a posture. Practice the mindful way, your yoga practice needs to enhance your sense of well-being, feel good, and build energy.

The secret to a healthy yoga practice is to find that place of doing and not doing. Listen to the teacher that lives inside of you.
